Ortiz Black

Why is it that I’m offended when people say that most Dominicans are black?
Why are they so ignorant and can’t see that we are 73% mixed, 16% white and 11% black? Just because they see Vladimir Guerrero and David Ortiz on TV they assume most or all Dominicans look like them! Could it be that mixed means black in the US?
Nothing wrong with being black. It’s just that people are ignorant.
Si mijo, mixed (mulatto) means Black in the USA. Tu no sabes, “One Drop Rule?” It’s crazy really, especially in the south. Have you not noticed how they only and always refer to Barrack Obama as a “Black” man running for president not a “Mulatto” or “Mixed” man running for president. His mother is white. The US feels this way about Puerto Ricans and American Mulattoes tambien, Dominicans are not alone. People in other parts of the world don’t think like that though. They recognize the difference.
